When I first tried playing Octopath Traveler in 2018, I thought its graphics gimmicky and its narrative fractured. But returning to it now, it’s a revelation: A game that does more with sprite graphics than simply be nostalgic for them, and whose bite-sized stories are perfect for the phone age.
